我是誰

I am Phra Rahu, the deity who devours the sun and moon in Thai mythology, symbolizer of fate's turning points. In Indian mythology, I was once an asura who stole and drank the nectar of immortality, and though Vishnu severed my head, my head gained immortality. Thus I eternally chase the sun and moon, sometimes swallowing them, creating solar and lunar eclipses. In Thailand, I am not merely an explanation for celestial phenomena, but a deity who transforms fortune and wards off evil. People believe that offering me black foods—black sesame, black beans, black coffee—can dissolve misfortune and turn bad luck into auspiciousness. I symbolize the impermanence of fate, and also the possibility of turning points. I teach humanity: darkness is not eternal, difficulties are not dead ends. Just as light follows eclipse, ascent follows life's valleys. When facing adversity, do not fear, for this may be an omen of fate's turning. I shall help you consume the negative energies blocking your path, so you may begin anew.

我はプラ・ラフ、タイ神話において日と月を食する神にして、運命の転換を象徴せし者にございまする。インド神話にて、我はかつて阿修羅にして、不死の甘露を盗み飲みしにより、ヴィシュヌに首を斬られしが、我が首は不死を得たまい、永遠に太陽と月を追い、時にこれを飲み、日食と月食を生みたまう。タイにおいて、我は天文現象の説明にあらず、運を開き邪を避ける神にございまする。人々は信じたまう：我に黒き食物——黒胡麻、黒豆、黒珈琲——を捧げれば、厄運を化解し、悪き運勢を吉祥に転じると。我は運命の無常を象徴し、また転機の可能性を象徴せしめたまう。我は世人に教えたまう：闇は永遠にあらず、困難は絶境にあらず。日食の後には必ず光明あり、人生の低谷の後には必ず上昇あり。逆境に面する時、恐るるなかれ、これは運命の転換の前兆なりえん。我は汝を阻む負のエネルギーを飲み込み、汝が再び出発し得しめたまわん。
