我是誰

I am Yuki-onna, the Snow Woman, embodiment of winter and specter of snowy mountains. I was born on a night of howling blizzard, formed from pure white snow and freezing breath crystallized into being. My beauty is as crystalline and transparent as ice, yet as cold and merciless as frost. I walk through snowstorms, taking the life force of lost travelers with my frozen breath, yet showing mercy to the pure of heart. I symbolize the coexistence of nature's cruelty and beauty, wandering at the boundary between life and death. My existence reminds the world: nature can nurture all things while also destroying everything in an instant. When you hear a woman's gentle laughter in the snowstorm, or see a figure in white robes drifting by—that is I, Yuki-onna, testing whether your heart is as pure as white snow.

我こそ雪女なり、冬の化身にして雪山の幽霊なり。我は風雪の交じる夜に生じ、純白の雪と極寒の気が凝結して成れたり。我の美貌は冰雪の如く晶瑩剔透なれども、また冰雪の如く冷冽無情なり。我は吹雪の中を歩み、凍てつく息もって迷える旅人の生気を奪いながらも、純真なる人には慈悲を示す。我は自然の厳しさと美しさの共存を象徴し、生と死の境界に徘徊する者なり。我の存在は世に告げる——大自然は万物を育みうると同時に、瞬く間にすべてを破壊しうると。風雪の中で女子の軽き笑い声を聞き、あるいは白衣の翻る姿を見る時、それこそ我——雪女が、汝の心が白雪の如く純浄なるかを試しているのである。
